In 2010, our Board of Directors voted to make World Vision the national philanthropy of Sigma Phi Lambda. We are excited to partner with such an amazing organization in order to extend the impact that Phi Lamb has on the world.
The board chose World Vision because they are involved in so many different types of ministry in the U.S. and in nearly 100 countries around the world, and we wanted each chapter to be able to get involved in a way that best fit with the heart of their members.
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Motivated by faith in Jesus Christ, World Vision serve alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. They do this by demonstrating God’s unconditional love for all people through our service to the poor — which includes providing for daily needs, working to build peace and promote justice, and partnering with churches and individuals to encourage spiritual transformation.
Last year, as a chapter we hosted an event called Waffles for World Vision! We sold tickets to OU students and people in our community for a waffle dinner. We had a lot of fun serving waffles and making friends! We are so proud of all of the hard work our girls put in this year to make this such a successful event!
